God’s Work, Our Hands

In September of each year, Lakeside joins with other ELCA congregations from across the country in a day of service. It is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America--- one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. We are called into action to help others, show love, respect, and acceptance of our family, friends, neighbors, and community.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to make a positive change in our community, build and deepen relationships, and share God’s love. For more than 25 years, the ELCA has been a church deeply rooted in faith and in sharing its passion for making positive changes in the world. Even though we come together as one church on a special day in September, our service to the community goes on every day of the week, every week of the year.

Some of our past, and ongoing projects include:

LLC Food Programs – LLC Food Bank, which is the largest community outreach program, and Northampton Home Meal Delivery assisting Northampton County Social Services in support of their home delivery program. Both programs operate year round.

Cleaning underbrush and graves at Littleton cemetery

Moving the Littleton Library to another location

Serving lunch to Vaughan Elementary School staff at the beginning and end of the school year.

Tutoring children at Vaughan Elementary School

Angel Tree – providing clothes, food, and making monetary contributions to needy families at Christmas or as a need arises during the year. Work with John 3:16 (an independent Christian organization seeking to eradicate poverty, child abuse and neglect) -- cleaning, painting, assist with building a retreat cabin at the John 3:16 camp, cleaning grounds, hauling mulch, building path to the lake, and building picnic tables.
