Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

Baptized members at Lakeside Lutheran Church confess their belief in the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and the Good News is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.

Jesus is the Word of God incarnate. It is through Him that all things were made and by his life, death and resurrection, God fashions a new creation.

We believe that the Old and New Testaments are the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit - God’s Spirit - speaking through their authors. They record and announce God’s revelation centering in Jesus Christ. Through them God’s Spirit speaks to us to create and sustain Christian faith and fellowship for service in the world.

All power of this Church belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ, its head. All actions of this congregation are to be carried out under His rule and authority.

We proclaim that we are justified by grace for Christ’s sake through faith alone and that this is the Good News.

Our Purpose

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Lakeside Lutheran Church is called and sent to bear witness to God’s creative, redeeming and sanctifying activity in the world. We worship in the proclamation of the Word and the sharing of the sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism, and through prayer, praise, thanksgiving, witness and service.

In response to God’s love, we will reach out to all people, committing ourselves to meet human needs by:

  • caring for the sick and aged
  • advocating dignity and justice for all people
  • working for peace and reconciliation
  • and standing with the poor and powerless.

We will nurture our members in the Word of God; to grow in faith and hope and love. We will see daily life as the primary setting for the exercise of our Christian calling and to use the gifts of the Spirit for a life together and for our calling.

We will manifest the unity given to God’s people by living together in the love of Christ and joining together in prayer and action to express that unity, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

It’s a tall order. Thank God for his mercy, grace and guidance.
