I began the process of candidacy with the Virginia Synod in 2011 and then I received approval within this synod in 2016. It was in 2011 that I began the process of candidacy with this synod and in 2016 I received approval for ordained ministry. I graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary Gettysburg in 2016 and was ordained in January 2017. I served my first call in the Allegheny Synod with the folks of First Faith Lutheran Cooperative, a two-point parish, for 7 ½ years. I began serving this community of Lakeside Lutheran Church on July 10th of this year. God’s move upon my life enables my husband and I to live geographically closer to our children, their partners, and our grandson, who live in the Tidewater area. It also brings me closer to my mom and siblings, who live in Goldsboro N.C. I have always loved being near water, whether a river, lake, or ocean, and I am so very happy for God to have called me to be here with everyone, so that we can share the good news of Jesus the Christ together.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).

Assistant Director of Music
Diane Colin
Diane currently serves as our Assistant Director of Music. She has been involved in music ministry in Lutheran Churches her whole life, having sung in church choirs from around age 5, many years of piano and flute playing in services, director of the children’s choir at Augsburg Lutheran-Winston-Salem, and teaching in her own music studio. She studied flute at the NC School of the Arts and at Salem College, where she taught in the Music Department. Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ is where she studied choral music and choral conducting. She retired from teaching, only to return to Vaughan Elementary as their music teacher, twice a week. It’s the perfect job! In addition to worship and music planning, she taught many years in Confirmation Ministry and Sunday School for all ages, pre-school to adult, teaching occasionally at Lakeside Lutheran. She is active in Eastern NC Via de Cristo. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, she has lived and worshipped in many places, most recently at Christ the King Lutheran in Cary. While there, she sang in their choir and was privileged to sing her way through Europe on six different tours. In her spare time she loves gardening, kayaking, learning new instruments and playing with other musicians, reading, traveling, cooking and her dog, Maddie. Her family includes husband, John and son, Brent.
